Hi, my name is Dominique from The YMCAs of Québec.
Today, we will be doing an exercise to tone the core.
We will show you 4 versions with different difficulty levels.
The first exercise will be a plank.
The most important element to remember is to keep a good alignment of the head, neck and core in all the steps.
Also, keep the pelvis to the ground and flat.
Keep a static position on the forearms,
then transfer the weight on the toes keeping the back straight.
A more challenging exercise would be to transfer the weight on the hand.
We will be opening on both sides keeping our nice plank.
We will do 6 to 8 repetitions on each side.
To finish, we have the most difficult level.
Place a towel, a scarf, or a t-shirt under the feet.
Slide your knees under, extend the legs back, and lift one arm front.
Keep your abdominals tight and your back flat.
You can do 8 to 10 repetitions for the last exercise.
In the other static exercises, a good objective would be to hold the positions 30 to 45 seconds, take a rest, and do it a second time.
