Hello my friends and Welcome to another Tuesday of tutorial!
I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today I will draw an eagle´s head
with color pencils.
First, let´s sketch the shape of the head with graphite.
Maybe here should go a little bit lower.
That´s better.
The eye here.
Ok.
The beak a little bit lower also.
Very good, now let´s erase the lines that we don´t need.
And now the color pencils. The beak is of a
blueish gray so first I use black and then blue over it.
I’m actually using watercolor pencils but I’m planning
to use them dry as if they were regular color pencils.
The pupil goes very black with a white reflection.
And for the iris I use different tones of brown
and yellow.
The upper part is in shadow so it goes dark.
Very good!
This eagle starts having character, that´s one of the things
I love when drawing, trying to get the essence
of the subject.
Now let´s represent the feathers with short lines.
I am using the blue to help make the tone
of the areas in shade.
You know? If I tell you the truth I am not achieving the tone I wanted,
since I am using the watercolor pencils, I am actually going
to change plan and put some water on them.
The colors are going to become a lot more intense and
I may ruin the whole thing or I may save it.
Let´s do it!
I apply the water very lightly with a soft brush.
It darkens it very much, you may take some paint off
with a tissue paper to lighten it.
Nice! I like how it is coming. This is much more the look
I was looking for.
The list of materials is bellow the video... and also bellow
the video is the link for my Facebook gallery.
You may want to visit it as I post all the tutorial videos,
both in English and Spanish.
And you may also see there my new paintings and sculptures
for my art exhibits.
Very good! Now with dry pencils I will refine some feathers
and some detail.
Very good, it´s ready!
If you enjoyed it please give it a LIKE, share it
to your friends and subscribe to this channel... and I will
see you on Tuesday :)
