Thanks for all of your advice about health insurance. I'm pretty sure I've got the right
plan for me and my family. That's great. Of course that got me thinking about all of my
other insurance plans. Home. Auto. Life. What's your take on disability insurance? It's not
a bad idea. Why is that? Having a disability can be more disastrous financially than you
might expect. You see, disability insurance helps you replace your lost income. If your'e
disabled, you lose your salary, but you still have living expenses and probably the cost
for medical care. Wow, that would be bad. Should I get short term or long term disability?
You should consider both. Short term disability policies have a maximum benefit of two years,
while long term disability policies can last the rest of your life. Typically, the younger
you are when you sign up, the less expensive the premium will be. Uh, what about worker's
comp? Well, that only covers you if you're injured on the job. Good disability insurance,
in combination with health insurance, will protect your family's finances in almost every
situation. I think I'll get it now. And hope that you never need it.
