I am going nuts trying to put together this wedding budget. Do you know how to save a
bunch of money on wedding flowers?
I suppose putting a few daisies from the front yard in your hair isn’t what you want to
do.
There are no daisies, only dandelions. And no, I want something that says frugal, sensible
bride, not dirt poor hippie.
If you have your wedding around Christmas time, ask the venue to keep poinsettias from
the holiday as wedding decorations. Or use Easter lilies for a spring weddings.
Roses are traditional. I'd like to use roses, but they are so darn expensive.
Look into renting garlands of silk flowers for your wedding. It’s cheaper than buying
flowers that will die a few days after your wedding.
Isn’t that risky? It could look tacky.
It’s none of their beeswax if the flowers are fake. Though real bees won’t bother
silk flowers, and silk flowers won't wilt if left untended.
And no one is allergic to silk flowers, are they?
Never heard of it. Though I’ve heard of using flowers from a prior wedding at a venue
for your wedding.
I might as well go all out and have a group wedding.
That’s your decision. Or you could simply use silk flowers for your bouquet, while skipping
flowers traditionally used for the rest of the venue.
What else could I do to save on wedding flowers?
Scale down the event so you don’t use as many. Don’t get obsessed with imported flowers,
and maybe use rose petals instead of live roses.
Can I order in bulk?
If you order directly from the flower farm yourself, you’ll save money.
So I supposed skipping the florist is part of the deal.
Yes, cut out the middleman.
So we can nip costs in the bud!
