Pentek CBR2-10R Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Pentek CBR2-10R. This is a 0.5 micron extremely dense carbon
block filter. This cartridge is capable of reducing a huge array of contaminants for
a couple of reasons; one, because of the density of the carbon and because it has a flow restrictor.
So this cartridge is not going to be appropriate for anything other than those applications
where you expect to need less than .6 gallons per minute flow rate. The flow restrictor
increases the contact time that the water has with the filter media thus increasing
the contaminant removal rates. Therefore, it can remove things like lead,
mercury, volatile organic compounds, MTBE; that’s methyl tertiary butyl ether, a by-product
of fuel manufacturing, and even microorganisms like giardia and cryptosporidium.
Now carbon blocks often get clogged with sediment, but Pentek has thought ahead and designed
Endurawrap; that’s this white outer layer. It’s a polyolefin bi-laminate that captures
sediment before it gets to the carbon block, thus increasing this filters life.
Now it has an approximate life of 20,000 gallons for chlorine removal but if you’re removing
high level nasty contaminants like MTBE’s or lead or mercury, those other things I listed
earlier, then it’s only going to last for about 2,000 gallons.
This is the Pentek CBR2-10R, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
Thanks for watching.
