I'm Mattia Morsucci from the diocese of Senigallia, in the Marche
I'm in the three-year license program, I am concluding this cycle and next year I will start
the doctoral cycle
I came to know this university through my brother, who also attended this university.
I took a tour of the PUL website, and decided to visit the university
I fell in love with the environment, the people... I felt welcomed.
I came to the Lateran University on the advice of my pastor.
what immediately struck me and influenced my choice between universities in Rome
was the serenity of this place and the friendliness of the people that I met at
the Lateran university.
The university environments are breathtakingly beautiful, especially the library
It has been 3 years since my arrival here in Rome, these have been wonderful years,
very intense, lived to the full, thanks to both my colleagues and the faculty
who have been a true a source of guidance, who have introduced us to the study
of this discipline that is very complex yet also very inspiring.
I am the president of the Institutum Utriusque Juris, which is unique among academic institutions
in the sense that it joins together both the legal culture of the Church with the extra-ecclesial legal culture
Students who come to join this institute may choose from
three offers including: canon law, civil law or utroque jure. Those who choose
iutrumque jus in addition to their study of canon law, add a thorough study
of those issues which have to do with the Church's social doctrine
regarding the canonical juridical area of the Church, we must not extrapolate
comparative law, study it in relation to each study area and in every matter "
along with the study of civil law, a major course of this university, there is also
a focus on ethics. For example, in some courses we
study bio-jurisprudence.
the study of law in the Civil law department of the Lateran, embraces
two strong points, on the one hand the study of comparative law, and on the other hand, the study
of international law. All this preceded by comprehensive legal studies,
the foundations of law which are what allow for
the formation of the true jurist in today's world.
We are international, both thanks to the origin of our students -
especially those of Canon Law, and utroque jure, but even for civil law -
and above all the faculty. The teachers are of different nationalities, and also belong
to the various states of life in the Church.
It is a university that has given me a lot, with good results, comprehensive knowledge,
I would have never imagined the great emotion of the experience, not only studying the material
but also to the level of networking and friendships.
There are also many possibilities to create unity between all students with
activities which are not purely academic but strongly communitarian.
Graduates of canon law, civil law or utroque jure find themselves working
in international institutions, organizations of international law, public administration,
working as judges in ecclesiastic courts, working in the departments of the Roman Curia
Today, a lawyer must above all be able to communicate, not only the technicalities but also
able to communicate through what can be understood as the lifestyle of the lawyer that
we can help structure and form
Our teachers are really available for the students
There are many courses, they are always interesting, the staff is prepared, the teachers are competent
and international
the passion that the teacher transmits to the students during the course of study is the same
passion which the student then in turn transmits in the workplace (and I can give my personal witness)
both in the church and outside the church always linked to the
alma mater Lateranensis, I myself am a living and practical example of what I'm
saying
Having had the opportunity to study a facinating topic that is an elective subject
regarding the rights of children, I am now passionate about this matter, and perhaps what I'd like
do in the future is to give attention to the rights of the child and work in the area
of the juvenile court.
I can go into the world of politics and give my contribution as a professional, and above all
as a Catholic.
I take with me a great cultural, human and spiritual endowment, in order to serve
my diocesan church better, and especially, with a deeper and wider vision
in the service of the universal Church
we invite new students to enroll for the Bachelor's program in the law department, especially that of
civil law, which allows for a rigorous juridical formation
with an international scope. It combines, on the one hand, the need to form
an expert in law which would operate in Italy and while at the same time also
having an international dimension.
