hi guys! I'm going to show you how to make this
little puff bow
and i'm gonna show you how to attach it to
a rubber band so that you can have
you own little
bows on rubberbands
which is really cute for little girls
all you need for this project
is a four point five millimeter hook
a rubber band
a bit of worsted weight yarn, 4ply for the US and 10 ply for AU or any ply will do
and a tapestry needle
and that's it. let's get started
make a slip knot
leaving yourself some extra tail that can be sewn in later
i'll give you a more
clean finish
when you get done
so you want to start off by chaining four
now in the second chain
from the hook
thie one here
you'll want to do a puff stitch
and how you do the puff stitch is, you yarn over
you go into that 2nd stitch
from the book
pull up a loop and yarn over and go back into that same
stitch
pull up a loop
you now have five
loops on your hook
yarn over, go to that same stage
pull up a loop
now you have seven
on your loop
now you want to yarn over and pull through all seven loops
and then chain one to secure the puff stitch
i'll show you that again in slow motion
and you want to do that one more time
for your third and final puff
chain to secure
then chain one and turn
now we want to have a total of
seven rows done
like this
so for rows two through
six
will be doing it
the same way
i'm going to be making our puff stitches
top space
of the puff stitch
and we're going to be doing the same for to the first one
you yarn over then you go into the stitch
you do a puff stitch in the first
stitch
remember to always chain one to finish
the puff stitch
then yarn over and go into the next top
and do another puff stitch
continue to do this
until you have a total seven
rows
so this is your second row completed and when you get done with the row
you want to chain one to close the puff as usual
then you also want to chain one before you turn
it just makes it
easier to work in this top space
so continued to do this until you have seven complete rows of puff stitches
when your done with your
seven rows
of puff stitches
leave yourself a long tail
to wrap around the bow
you'll also use this tail to sew it onto your project
so make sure it's a long tail
you can use these to sew onto a slipper,
or maybe a skirt or something, baby blanket
this would be great for that. But if you wanted to put it on a hat
maybe you would want to make it another three rows
wider
and maybe a little longer
if you wanted a bigger bow
now you want to thread your smaller tail first
down the stitches
through
the stitches until you get to the center
then pull it through
not to tight
just tug it slightly
so thestitches aren't going to show here and it won't be loose
and do that exact same thing
for this other tail as well
trying to feed them some where in the same area
okay now
usually take both my pieces now that they're here
and i'll start to wrap them around
the center. Wrap it well, but leave yourself enough tail to sew it in to your project
now that i have my tails in the back
and it's wrapped around as much as i need
i'll put my hook
underneath all the wrapped yarn
that i just did
and grab the two loose strings
and pull them through
to the other side
of my bow
and i'll use the rest of this access
and just pull it through the loop i just made
if the other tail is still showing
and you need to hide it, then
just feed it through the sticthes or
tuck it back in
or cut it if you like
so once you've made your bow
and you're ready to attach it to
your rubber band
what you want to is attach
using the single crochet method
make a slip knot
go into the rubber band
and then you want to pull up a loop
the yarn over and pull through two loops to single crochet
then working over your tail
you want to make them
as tight and uniform and you can
but not to tight to where it's going to actually warp the rubber band itself
bit you want it to have a nice
a nice connection
together
throughout
and you just want to continue to do this
all the way around
okay when you get your rubber band covered to this much
you want to grab your
bow
and since i'm going to be using it for
uh...
as a rubber band
we're not really going to need
this access yarn that i have here
i'm just going to hide my tail
so we've got it
your rubberband covered to about this point
and your ready to attach your bow
i'll gather
one side over here
keeping it as even as i can, i want that middle
i want to have three puff stitches on either side of my middle
so go into your middle puff
the one closest
to either side of the middle, leaving two rows unused on the side
and slip stitch here
and then go back into
my rubber band here and do
two single crochets
and then i'm going to go through my center section here
we're going to slip stitch
to connect
then i go back into my rubberband again
and do two more
single crochets
now again i want to go through
the other side
the middle row to the other side of my center
and again i'm going to slip stitch
to connect
and again i want to do two more
just however many stitches it takes you to get to
the end
to finish covering your rubberband
i need to add about four
and when i get done
then slip stitch to connect to the round
to your beginning single crochet
and chain one
leaving yourself a bit of tail and cut
your yarn, grab your tapestry needle
and now working in
through those
stitches here
along the band
just feed it through the stitches there
and pull
cut your yarn
and that's it
that's how you get a bow tie on
on a rubber band
makes a nice hair accessory for your daughter
so that's it
