How to search on FrostWire 5.
Let's search for indie R&B singer "Brandon Hines"
Quickly we get hundreds of results of all different file types.
We can filter these results by file type, let's look at the audio files.
If you know the name of the file you're looking for you can type it to filter results.
Or say you wanted to get Brandon's album covers, you can filter by images
You can also filter results for Books and documents, let's say you wanted to learn Brandon
Hines' lyrics.
Ultimately, if you want to download a collection of related files (let's say the entire album)
you can filter out by Torrents.
FrostWire search results initially come from several bittorrent search engines, every search
result provides a link back to the detail page of the torrent,
we encourage you to check sources if you doubt the
file you're about to download is not what you expect.
Search results from these engines are curated by large user communities and when there are
fake files they're quick to point them out.
So, we can double click on the desired search result to start a download, in this case let's
download Brandon Hines, In Search Of, a Creative Commons
R&B album that's been downloaded and shared legally
by nearly 1/2 a million FrostWire users all over the world at the time this tutorial was
recorded.
After the file has finished downloading we can do several things with it, we can explore
the folder where the files have been downloaded to, we can
Send them to a friend, if there are audio files we can send them
to iTunes, or we can add them to a playlist on the FrostWire library and then listen to
the files right here from the FrostWire audio player.
We can see the files we downloaded by Double clicking on them or by pressing the "Show
In Library" button.
Let's go back, and create a playlist right from the transfer manager (You can create
playlists of course on the Library just by dragging and dropping audio files into
the library)
But what If I just want to download a few files contained within a torrent? Torrent
search results have this "+" icon next to them, click on it to
see the files that the torrent indexes. You can now browse, or search
for the file you want within the torrent, in this case, let's look for "Pin up girl",
and there it is, select it, download it.
