Rosetta Graham is my name
and I have been employed
here at the hermitage for 34 years I started May 7th
1979 the atmosphere here at the hermitage
is just wonderful the place is a beautiful
place to come in and visit the guest really enjoy it
my coworkers have all been wonderful to me all through the years
met wonderful people its just
just a great place to work it's very pleasant
Ronald Reagan came in 1982 he was 72 years old at this time
on my goodness I was so impressed with him
he walked with such vigor and vitality and his
body was straight as a stick and he just
was really an outstanding looking man anyway of course he was an
actor
before it became a president but he just had this
presence about him he look like a president
he really did he just had this demeanor about him that he was a leader
you could just tell by the way he presented himself that he had that
leadership ability
oh my goodness the security here at the hermitage was unbelievable at that time
of course we didn't have walkie talkies like we do now
we had a telephone a red telephone
that was hooked up and the tomb in case he had some emergency call from Washington he
could
you know answer it pretty quickly, he laid a wreath at the tomb
he did take the tour through the house
well i think the library is an interesting room
because Andrew Jackson spent a lot of time in the library
all the books he had and everything
sometimes people just glantz and they don't realize sometimes how
old the books are some of them go back to the 1700s
of course all the newspapers that are stacked upon the floor
I have seen the newspapers
Marsha the curator has let us look at them at different times
they are so interesting
amazingly good condition
so i don't think they really stand there and think about the library that much but it is a wonderful room
it truly is
it has light in it
it's just a great room
