[Intro Music Playing]
I think it's safe to say...
that every family in the US...
has someone serving in the Military...
or they know a family who has people serving in the Military.
So for all you men and women who serve our country...
and who are devoted to protecting our freedoms and our safety...
I want to dedicate this video to you.
Welcome to Gray Hair Talking...
as I offer a "Salute to the Military."
I was born in 1939...
and in my lifetime, the US has been involved...
in a variety of wars...
and military conflicts.
As a small child...I remember the Air Raid Sirens being sounded...
and that we would huddle on the couch in the dark...
until the "All Clear Siren" was sounded.
Now my parents' generation served in World War II...
and in the Korean Conflict.
My stepdad was in the Army...
and my father-in-law...was in the Navy.
My generation went off to Vietnam.
My children's generation...went to the Persian Gulf War.
And now my grandchildren's generation are in Iraq...
Pakistan...and Afghanistan...and other places around the world.
And God only knows, and I mean that...
God only knows what other conflicts...may loom on the horizon for our country.
Our family has an Air Force legacy...
and that legacy began with our son Lee...
who served in the Air Force in the 1980's.
Currently, our grandson Neil is stationed at Cannon Air Force Base...
and our granddaughter is in the Air Force Reserves.
Her husband is in the Army...and he is stationed at Fort Carson.
And our youngest granddaughter...Ashley, is in the Air Force...
and currently studying...
at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences...
in Bethesda, Maryland.
Now I get chills and sometimes misty eyed...
when I see our American military uniforms.
We always thank people when we see them in uniform...and on occasion...
we pay for their meal in a restaurant.
I want to say to you military men and women...and your families...
THANK YOU!
Thank you for your love of country...
and I am grateful you are willing to serve...to protect me...
to protect us...and our freedoms.
May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America.
And with the words from a familiar tune...
way back from World War I and World War II...
this is Rachel Solomon...hoping...that we remember always...
that we are here in this wonderful country...
because our military men and women like you...are "OVER THERE". [music playing]
And I am sending you blessings...from Gray Hair Talking. [music fading]
