The stock Golf 6 R has 270hp and 350 Nm torque
Thanks to the 2.0 TFSi engine under the bonnet
The one we are driving today has 400hp, 450Nm torque...
And does 0 - 100km/h in less than 5 seconds
This is a tuned Golf and they did a great job
When driving this car, it feels that the stock Golf R had to be like this
The DSG transmission, which is an option for the Golf R
Is a dual-clutch transmission and switches and super fast
The four motion system works great, it distributes the power per second
Thanks to that you don't have any wheelspin with this car
There are hundred thousand VW Golfs on the road, world wide
It al started at Mk1 and we are driving an Mk6 today The latest, Mk7, is already on the market.
There have always been fast types of the Golf. It started with the GTI, later followed by the R32
With the 3.2L V6, a natural aspirated engine
Wich sounded lovely and pure
Everyone thought that downsizing was totally wrong when the Mk6 came out
Normally I think the same
The V6 in the R32 was fantastic and sounded great
But that car wasn't perfect as well; it was way to heavy on the front side
Well, the Mk6 with the 2.0L engine is something totally different
It is a turbo engine, with a totally different technique
But much better for tuning purposes
When stock, I would take the R32 over the R20...
But this R20 is pretty exciting!
For comparison, we have also brought an R32 today
The owner of that car really likes the R20 as well but he keeps saying...
The V6 engine is more pure and something different
Downsizing should be more efficient... Well, not really. The Turbo need a lot of fuel!
I have to say that this car is better. I have just driven the R32...
You really notice the heavy V6 engine
He has a bit of understeer despite the four motion system
The R20 is less heavy on the front and has less trouble with understeer
The car is pretty rigid, you can adjust the suspension 0:04:32.000,0:04:37.000, For a daily driver it is rigid enough in sport mode
We have to thank JD Engineerin for all the power upgrades 0:04:49.000,0:04:57.000, They were able to get 130hp extra out of this engine and that's unique
They have installed a bigger turbo, the intake pipe is customised
a new and better intercooler, the total exhaust is replaced for a Milltek system
A stock Golf R sounds rubbish
But the Milltek sounds great
When shifting you hear a nice popping sound, thanks to the DSG transmission
It sounds great
The topspeed is also a bit stretched
The owner told us that he had reached 275km/h
There was enough power for an even higher topspeed
But the transmission wasn't long enough
He went in his rev limiter...
But 270km/h with a Golf... Where does it stop?
This car also has a launch control, when activated, this car is being catapulted
And for a Golf, you have a really fast car
A Ferrari 360 Modena has 400hp, a Porsche 991 Carrera S has 400hp...
This Golf also has 400hp, to indicate how much this is for a VW!
Today I came to the conclusion that VW has built a better car with the R32...
When stock! Because this R20 with a few modifications has less emotion but is better.
