All Tasmanians deserve the opportunity to get a job and build a better life.
We're making that happen in this Budget by delivering on our three priorities - Jobs,
People and Opportunities
Our Jobs Package has supported the creation of over a thousand jobs for Tasmanians.
The First Home Builders Boost is employing builders, plumbers, electricians.
It is also helping people realise their dream of building their first home.
Businesses are employing more Tasmanians with the help of innovation grants.
We're making the big investments for the long term in irrigation, roads and schools.
DisabilityCare Australia is a huge reform that will change people's lives.
11,000 Tasmanian residents with a significant disability will now get choice and control
over the care and support they receive.
We want to keep Tasmanians healthy that's why we're investing in preventative health.
But we also know that people get sick. So we're upgrading our hospitals so Tasmanians
can get better care when they need it.
Every child deserves a good education no matter where they live or what their family's income
is.
That's why we're contributing to the Gonski education reforms that will provide more than
$9,000 for every primary school student, and more than $12,000 for every high school student
-- plus extra support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our 11 Child and Family Centres are making a real difference in helping young children
to be active, healthy and happy.
The National Broadband Network is so important for our future. It will give Tasmanians access
to quality services no matter where we live and connect us to the world so we can take
on the jobs of the future.
There is no doubt these are challenging times.
What we're trying to do in this Budget is be responsible so we don't pass unsustainable
debt onto the next generation.
We are working with Tasmanians on major reforms that will create jobs, help look after people
and give our kids better opportunities for the future.
