Hi, I'm Jamie with Bar-i. In this video I'm going to talk to you about the variety of
liquor inventory systems which are available today.
So, first would be the status quo, what we see most bars doing. At the end of the month,
they count their inventory, value it, and use it to calculate their liquor cost for
the month. There are a few problems with this approach, but the main problem is that you
don't you detailed information which you can use to manage your business.
One step of an improvement from here is developing in-house spreadsheets at a bar. These are
often used to give a little bit more detailed performance information and these days we
see alot of bars taking their inventory on a weekly basis. The main problem with this
is that liquor cost still tends to mask problems amongst your changing product mix.
Another option is to buy a third party hardware and software solution. Typically these start
at around a few thousand dollars, and crucially allow you to look at the performance of individual
products. So, you can identify if a particular product is being given away, wasted, or perhaps
the tap is not working effectively.
Another option is full service liquor inventory systems. These, in some respects, can be the
best value, because they virtually guarantee results. A professional will come to your
bar, perform all the calculations and counting for you, so you just use the accurate reports
to manage your business.
The final option is hybrid inventory systems, which combine the best of both worlds; the
lower cost of counting the inventory yourself, combined with the better quality results of
using professionals to take care of the tricky bits. If you're interested in using a hybrid
inventory system at your bar, check out our speed count pro system, and then give us a
call, so we can answer your questions and schedule the set-up for your bar.
