Next to results, on the left side, we can find different filters.
Filters indicate the text types in which the searched word appears.
We have searched for the word zdrsniti, which occurs 18,045 times in the corpus.
The filter Vrsta besedila (Text type) shows
that the word is most frequently (11,448 times) found on the internet,
2675 times in newspapers,
then in internet texts, non-fiction texts and so on.
The next filter shows the distribution of the word across different sources,
and the last filter shows the frequency distribution by year.
Filters are used also when selecting groups of results.
For example, if we are interested in results from 2008,
we click on the link and get filtered results.
If we click on the link Več (More) in a filter, we get a list of categories
and the option to simultaneously choose more than one category,
for example all the concordances from 2008 and 2009.
The filter Osnovne oblike (Basic forms) is used when we search for a word
that can be interpreted by the program in different ways.
For example this word
can be the verb poznati or the adjective pozen.
The program initially shows all the results that meet the criteria,
and then we can select the ones we are searching for.
Another useful feature of filters is that they can show
how a particular word or phrase is written.
If we enter the search in double quotes, for example "bližnji vzhod" (Middle East),
the filter Zapisi oblik (Spelling forms) appears.
In this filter we can see how upper or lower case is used in the phrase.
As we can see, in most cases Bližnji is written with upper case
and vzhod with lower case.
The filters Basic forms, Text type, Source and Year
are found in all types of search,
so also at Collocations and List.
More on these two types of search is available in other videos.
