This is Indonesia Now...
...and we're in the Jakarta studios of Metro TV, Indonesia's news channel.
Serving up a trendy taste of Indonesia is the goal of a new Jakarta restaurant.
'Ideas' is located in the recently opened 'Street Gallery' section of Pondok Indah Mall in South Jakarta...
...and it's winning customers with its delicious twist on traditional dishes.
Here's Indonesia Now's Roberlin Purba.
The desire to give familiar dishes a new look and taste is what drives the owners of Ideas.
It's located on the ground floor of the Pondok Indah Mall Street Gallery...
...with a contemporary feel and design
The concept here is "Go global, go local," also keeping customer budgets in mind.
Take this hybrid offering.
Chefs combine Indonesian quail with Italian pasta and spices...
...for a unique dish that sells for 119,000 Rupiah or 12 dollars.
This restaurant's signature dish is this 'Nasi Goreng Kluwek', or Kluwek Fried Rice.
This dish differs from the Indonesian fried rice...
...that's because the color is very dark
Black nut, or the kluwek, makes it dark in color - hence its name.
Now I'll give it a try.
It's very rich in garlic, very rich in kluwek, basically very tasty.
At 119,000 Rupiah, it's priced right for those seeking a unique plate of food.
Since opening in April, the clientele has grown steadily.
After dinner hours, the lights are lowered and the music raised for a complete chill-out night.
Even bartenders get into the fusion spirit.
This cocktail is called "Rujak Bebeuk," inspired by an Indonesian dessert.
And the "Pecel Martini" combines the traditional drink with a special taste of Indonesia.
